Sunset, Sunrise

A setting sun symbolizes the completion of a journey.

This week was a huge sunset for me.

On Friday, I completed my long journey as an Assistant Director and closed the door on my former position. Though my new site won’t open for a number of weeks – June if all goes well – there is much to do and I have to focus all of my efforts on the training of my new Assistant Director. The sun set on the work I have done over the past 8 years, dedicated to supporting other directors in the pursuit of their best program in whatever ways that may be.

This week was also a sunset of my 20’s. Today I’m kissing my 20’s goodbye, because when I wake, I will be celebrating 30 years on this earth! I am a huge birthday celebrator, and make sure that I take advantage of the opportunity to celebrate my life – the good, the bad, the opportunity to be alive! Birthday’s are special and I just have a feeling that 30 is going to be a wonderful year in my life. My 20’s have been memorable, kind to me, very very rude to me, full of opportunities, learning, growth and some special people – but this is not a sunset I fear.

I am ready for my sunrise on Monday.  I am ready to be 30 and dive in with both feet into a milestone year for me – not just the number, but the attitude. I am ready to drive to work Monday, not as an Assistant Director ready to support the program I am assigned to, but to walk in and own it. To have in my hands a program of my very own.

  1. A SPECIAL THANKS TO YOU,
Throughout his course I have followed your blog page and I have enjoyed the readings, personal insight and assertiveness that I can sense from you. From your web page reflecting about your family, the loss of one of your student’s parent, your take on Ethical responsibilities in this field, to the community of people/family you have built around you, I wish you the very best in your endeavors.
As you stated in your introduction: “I work hard. I play hard. I like nice things. I’m honest. I know what I want. I know what’s right. The joys and smiles of children, their unknowingly witty statements, and fun fill my work days. My goal is to “love life and joyously live each day to its ultimate good #earlychildhood.” I liked that!!!
